Former WWE Superstar Bronson Reed recently discussed his release from the company and how he wasn't expecting it to come.
Reed was released earlier this year as part of the ongoing 'budget cuts' in the company, with the former NXT North American Champion expected to be moved to the main roster before being released.
Once again named Jonah Rock, the former WWE Superstar discussed his release and the surrounding reasons on his JONAHDROME podcast.
Reed talked about the exact moment he found out about his release, with a phone call coming from the Head of Talent Relations at WWE, John Laurinaitis:
“I’m sitting at home, watching SmackDown. I always try to watch the product. I try to watch as much wrestling as possible; WWE, AEW, IMPACT, New Japan, current Indies. I was watching SmackDown, I get a call on my phone and see it’s Connecticut. I answer the phone very confidently and very happy. It is John Laurinaitis, here I am expecting, ‘Come to Raw on Monday’ or ‘Next week, come to SmackDown.’ Instead, he goes, ‘Bronson, I just need to let you know, we are exercising our right to release you from your WWE contract.’ I was gobsmacked. I made sure to ask, ‘Why?’ He went on to say, ‘No, it’s just a no at this time. Keep working and the door is always open.’”

It is not confirmed what Reed/Jonah Rock's next move will be, although he is hoping to secure a contract to work in the United States so that he can remain in the country.
