Ian Wright was a very good footballer.

The Englishman was playing non-league football with Greenwich Borough at the age of 21.

But he was given a chance with Crystal Palace shortly before his 22nd birthday and it didn't take long for him to acclimatise to professional football.

He was extremely successful during his six-year spell with the club and that convinced Arsenal to make a move for him in 1991.

The lethal striker would go on to become a club legend at The Gunners, becoming their all-time top goal scorer.

Wright retired in 2000 and he still works in football as a pundit.

The 57-year-old is an extremely likeable character who often has a laugh on live TV.

He's also very passionate and isn't afraid to ruffle a few feathers when giving his opinion.

And he showed that side to his personality in a question and answer with former Premier League strikers Chris Sutton and Michael Owen back in 2017.

The trio were working for BT Sport when Jake Humphrey relayed a question from a viewer: “Who had the best left foot: Wright, Sutton or Owen?”

Wright then went off.

“Me. Don’t even ask them two - they can’t get near to where my left foot was," he said.

Neither Sutton or Owen disagreed but that didn't stop Wright ripping into the former.

“How many goals did you score with your left foot? How many? I don’t even remember doing it - I don’t even remember what foot I used I was so good.”

He added: “You can’t get into that party, bro. “No chance! Me, no problem.”

Ian Wright and Michael Owen

Incredible TV. That is why the Arsenal legend is one of the most popular pundits in football today.

Sutton just looked bemused while Owen burst out laughing.

Owen was a superb player and probably backed himself, but he may have chosen to stay quiet after listening to Wright rip into Sutton.

We think choosing not to argue with Wright was a wise choice.
