Ralf Schumacher has suggested that Lewis Hamilton 'dramatised' things after the Briton's crash with Max Verstappen at the Italian Grand Prix.

Formula 1's title protagonists came together once again last time out at Monza, with Verstappen crashing across the top of the Mercedes of Hamilton at turn one.

Indeed, it was a pretty clumsy incident but also one that could have had serious consequences had it not been for the halo device on Lewis' car.

Slo-mo shots revealed that Verstappen's right-rear Pirelli tyre had made contact with Hamilton's crash helmet during the accident and, had the halo not been there to cushion most of the blow, we could have been looking at a very worrying turn of events.

Fortunately, Hamilton appeared relatively unscathed with just some strapping on his neck which he complained was stiff at the time after the race.

Schumacher, though, isn't sure how bad the neck problem actually was, citing Hamilton's trip to the Met Gala in New York in the days after as a reason for him to suggest the Briton was over-dramatising things:

“I think Lewis was too dramatising of it, considering that he flew to New York the next day to attend an event,” he told Sport1.

Ultimately, it's good both drivers came out of the incident pretty much unscathed and both will be fighting fit to race in Russia this weekend.
