Leon Edwards has borrowed a famous phrase from Tony Ferguson to describe his frustrating wait for another crack at UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
The Birmingham-born MMA fighter is currently ranked No.3 in the UFC, with only former title challengers Gilbert Burns and Colby Covington ahead of him, after he defeated Nate Diaz by unanimous decision on June 12.
Edwards has responded superbly, with a ten-fight unbeaten streak, since he suffered a three-round defeat to Usman in December 2015, and he doesn't know what else he has to do to get that long-awaited opportunity.
"I've earned it, I've done everything they've asked of me, I've earned the position that I'm in," Edwards told MMA Fighting.
"They're trying to hold me back but believe me, the title shot is coming, and I feel I deserve it.
"It's been what, six years since my last loss? Colby went and got beat by the champion, went and fought Woodley, the fight ended by an injury, sat out for over a year, then got the title shot.
"But when I go and get ten fights in a row, 'Nah, he needs one more, needs one more'.
"Every time it's one more, I think they're trying to get me beat, but I cannot lose Ariel, I will not lose.
"I truly believe that I will be the next world champion and they're trying to hold me back from it but it's coming I can feel it."
Ferguson, 37, recently made the headlines after he complained that Michael Chandler had received special treatment from UFC president Dana White to fight Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title, and Edwards feels he can relate in some way to the former interim lightweight champion.
"I need that Dana White privilege, Ariel, get me some of that Dana White privilege," he added.
"I thought the sport was if you go out there and beat and compete and win, you get your shot.
"But if that's what I have to do to get my shot, to go take pictures and selfies and be pally-pally with everyone, then I don't know, you know."
Edwards, 30, also claims Jorge Masvidal has turned down the chance to fight him 'every single time'.
Edwards and Masvidal have been at each others' throats for years - but have never actually met in the octagon.
“Yeah for sure, November, December, I'll be on it to do it," he replied when asked if he is willing to fight Masvidal this year.
"Apart from a title shot, there’s no one else that I want to fight other than Jorge, everyone knows this.
“I’m not scared of him. I’ve asked three years in a row to fight this guy and he turned down every single time.
"I'm not waiting till next year to fight him, I'm waiting for a title shot.
"I want to fight for the title, which I earned years ago, so let's see."
