Liverpool’s good start to the 2020/21 season continued on Tuesday night as they beat Norwich 3-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Jurgen Klopp fielded a much-changed team that included 18-year-old Conor Bradley at right-back and 16-year-old Kaide Gordon at right-wing.

However, there was a touch of experience amongst the youth with Joe Gomez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi all starting.

And it was a line-up that had far too much for a Norwich team who made nine changes of their own.

It took just four minutes for the visitors to take the lead at Carrow Road.

Origi won the header from a Konstantinos Tsimikas corner and Minamino swivelled on the ball to fire past Angus Gunn.

It set the tone for a first half in which Liverpool largely dominated.

However, Norwich were gifted the perfect opportunity to equalise just before half time.

Debutant Bradley brought down Dimitris Giannoulis in the penalty area to give Norwich the chance to draw level.

However, Greek forward Christos Tzolis tamely struck his penalty straight down the middle allowing Caoimhin Kelleher the chance to save with his legs.

It was the turning point of the match as Liverpool took a 1-0 lead into the break before further goals from Origi and Minamino sealed the 3-0 win.

A job well done.

However, it was only after the final whistle that many fans noticed something rather unusual about Kelleher’s save.

Videos were being posted on social media suggested it was actually a ‘rabona’ save.

If you don’t know what a ‘rabona’ is, an official definition says: “an action in which a player strikes the ball with their kicking leg crossed behind the other leg, typically so as to be able to play the ball instantly with their stronger foot or to deceive an opposing player.”

We’re not sure Kelleher was trying to ‘deceive an opposing player’ with his penalty save but rather using his height to great effect.

Either way, it was something that Liverpool fans enjoyed on social media as they reacted firmly tongue in cheek.

After the game, Klopp was pleased with the night’s work and also praised Kelleher for ‘saving us’ on a few occasions.

"It was not possible to be a perfect day today because we had to make too many changes to have natural solutions for the problems we would have in the game," he said.

"They were clear. We started really well and I liked that - really aggressive, really lively, but then you could see we didn’t train because we had to make a lot of decisions really late. The last line and the goalie saved us in these moments with speed, good challenges and stuff like that, so there was not really something in it for Norwich."
