England breezed to another show-stopping international win last night after putting ten goals past Luxembourg in the World Cup qualifiers.

The Lionesses have now scored 18 goals in their last two matches and conceded none – marking the perfect start to Sarina Wiegman's reign.

Their previous performance was a thumping 8-0 win over North Macedonia at St Mary's Stadium.

Ellen White bagged herself a brace against Luxembourg to take her within three goals of breaking Kelly Smith's all-time scoring record.

Alex Greenwood marked her 50th England appearance with two goals for herself, as well as Millie Bright who also scored a double.

Nikita Parris, Rachel Daly, Bethany England, and a Jessica Berscheid own goal rounded off the whopping 10-goal thriller.

Despite scoring eight against North Macedonia last time out, Wiegman described the team performance as only "ok" and admitted she thought England "should have scored lots more goals."

But after another high-scoring display, the Dutchwoman was pleased with her first two games in charge and believes the Lionesses have "reached all our goals" for the first camp.

"What I also saw is we had one or two mistakes and everyone was just in transition and we won the ball back within five seconds, and that’s what team-work is all about," Wiegman said. "I really enjoyed that."

The former Netherlands manager has taken a new approach to the England set up compared to what fans had been used to under Phil Neville and Hege Riise. Leah Williamson wore the armband in the absence of an injured Steph Houghton and also operated in midfield as opposed to her usual role in defence.

Younger players like Ella Toone and Lauren Hemp started ahead of their more senior counterparts and Mary Earps got the nod in between the sticks.

The Manchester United shot-stopper has been reintroduced to the England camp after the rise of Ellie Roebuck and will surely now be looking to compete for the No.1 spot under Wiegman.

England's next World Cup qualifier will be against Northern Ireland on October 23rd.
