Manny Pacquiao's adviser has dismissed talk of the Filipino boxing legend retiring anytime soon.

Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) had appeared to rule out a potential return to the ring by saying 'my boxing career is already over' after confirming he will run in the Philippines presidential election earlier this week.

However, his adviser Sean Gibbons has told ESPN that nothing has been decided and he will make his decision about the future of his career 'in the coming weeks'.

Pacquiao has repeatedly said in the last year that he fancies a lucrative mega-fight against Conor McGregor and Gibbons said: "In the coming weeks, the senator will decide how he's going to finish his professional boxing career.

"After the fight and recently, he's discussed retiring [or] maybe one more [fight].

"He's just talking out loud about different situations.

"Until you see it officially come out on his Twitter or Instagram, he isn't retired.

"Once you see it on a platform like that, it's official.

"Anything else is just talk about what his thoughts are in the moment.

"It's coming from him, but it's hearsay."

Pacquiao suffered serious heartbreak after he was repeatedly beaten to the punch by Yordenis Ugas in his comeback fight earlier this summer

The Filipino senator struggled to deal with the Cuban's constant pressure and aggression in the later rounds and speaking after the fight, he hinted that could be the last fans see of him in the ring.

Pacquiao said in his post-fight interview: "In the future, you may not see Manny Pacquiao fight again in the ring. I don't know.

"But for how many decades, I'm so happy with what I've done in boxing.

"I contribute a record in boxing also and to make boxing the top. And especially bring honour to country and the Filipino people.

"I'm so proud to be a Filipino and thankful to all the fans all over the world."
