Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Paul Pogba's future at Manchester United following recent comments made by the player's agent, Mino Raiola.

What did Raiola say about Pogba's future?

Pogba previously played for Serie A side Juventus between 2012 and 2016, and Raiola recently claimed that the Frenchman could return to his former employers when his contract expires at United next summer.

He told Rai Sport, as quoted by talkSPORT“Surely Turin has remained in his heart and he cares a lot about these things.

“There is the possibility that he returns to Juventus but it also depends on Juve.”

What did Romano say about Raiola's comments?

Romano was keen to point out on The Here We Go Podcast that Raiola also said that he would meet with United in the future to discuss Pogba's contract situation, indicating that it is some way off beinga foregone conclusion that Pogba will move back to Italy in 2022.

However, he did reiterate that despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's best efforts, a deal has not been agreed with Pogba to stay at Old Trafford yet.

Romano said: “It’s important to remember the first answer from Raiola was: ‘we need to meet with Man United and see what happens.’ So it was not: ‘he wants to go back to Juventus.’ Just to give a clear message because Man United fans are asking about this situation.

“I think Raiola’s being honest on this point because we heard rumours in the last week like Pogba was one step away from signing a new deal with United. It’s not like this. At the moment, it’s not agreed. What is true is that Pogba is loving Man United life, he’s loving the atmosphere, he’s loving how the club has been rebuilt, with Sancho, with Varane and, of course, with Cristiano Ronaldo.

“But, talking about his contract, it’s not 100% agreed yet. It’s on the table since July, they’re talking with Pogba, but it’s not agreed yet. So let’s see what’s going to happen in the coming days for Paul Pogba but Man United will push again to sign his new contract, they want him to stay. They will try and try, as they are doing also with Solskjaer, directly involved since months, but at the moment it’s not agreed or done yet.

“And so, many clubs are waiting to see what Pogba will decide because imagine Pogba is a free agent, it would be more than an opportunity.”

Will Pogba's future be decided any time soon?

That is looking less and less likely by the day.

Given that United have not won a trophy since 2017, it seems that Pogba may want to see how this season progresses before he commits his future to the club. Meanwhile, he could ultimately decide that he wants to move elsewhere regardless of how the Red Devils perform this year.

Either way, it appears that this saga could continue into the latter half of the season, leaving fans anxious to find out whether he will stay or if he will bring his association with United to an end.
