Anthony Martial made his second start of the season for Manchester United last night.

Unfortunately for him it did not go very well. At all. Martial blew his opportunity.

During Cristiano Ronaldo’s two league games for United he has averaged 6.5 shots at goal.

Last night Martial managed only three. In a game where United attempted 27. Ronaldo’s attempts likely would have been into double figures.

Fans reacted to the defeat by criticising the 25-year-old following another poor performance which means he now has just one goal in 24 appearances in all competitions and is goalless in his last 15 games in a Reds shirt.

Former Manchester United striker Dion Dublin has slammed Anthony Martial’s performance in the Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side crashed out of the competition at the first hurdle with Manuel Lanzini’s goal after nine minute the difference between the sides at Old Trafford.

United had 27 attempts on goal were unable to find their finishing touch despite the chances.

‘We need to see more from Anthony Martial, we have said it many times before but he is not helping his cause,’ Dublin told BBC Radio 5 Live.

‘I want to see him sweating and putting the ball in the back of the net.

‘He has not done enough since being at United, you see flashes and think it is the start then he doesn’t do anything.
