Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3: Bronze Bomber to wear 'something special' for ring walk

Despite the complaints and regrets of his ring walk costume in the previous encounter, Deontay Wilder has hinted that he may be doubling down on his outfit for the next fight with Tyson Fury.

In a recent presser held over Zoom, the Bronze Bomber has said that he’ll wear “something special” during his entrance and walk to the ring on October 9, as he faces Fury in what could be a decisive third fight.

Wilder stated: “Since I became champion, you know, it’s nobody come out with a better dress, better uniform than I. And we’re gonna continue to continue with that. You know, and we’ll just have to see what I put on. It’s gonna be something special.”

While a follow-up question on the costume’s details was denied, Wilder teased viewers by saying it will be something he will dedicate to his people and tribe and that we should “look forward to seeing it.”

This comes as a surprise after a lot was made of the adverse effects of his previous ring walk outfit.

After losing via devastating seventh-round TKO in his last fight with Fury, Wilder blamed his costume for its role in his loss. He was adamant that wearing the 45-pound outfit had zapped a lot of his energy before he even reached the ring.

While the extravagant skull and rhinestone clad armour Wilder wore to the previous fight may have had some minor influence, nothing should be taken away from Fury, who fought on the front foot and totally dominated the Alabama Slammer from start to finish.

Fury is not exactly someone who opts for a subtle entrance either.

Among the Gypsy King’s most noteworthy ring costumes include his stars and stripes Apollo Creed tribute against Tom Schwarz, his Mexican Independence day outfit, with silk poncho and giant sombrero, worn against Otto Wallin and who can forget the press conference where he turned up in full Batman costume!

The Fury/Wilder rivalry will surely go down as one of the most entertaining.

The anticipation of the ring walks is almost as exciting as the fight, and we mean that as a compliment.

Both boxers will go down as great showmen of the sport, regardless of who wins this epic trilogy.
