Sebastian Vettel has offered his thoughts on the battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton for the F1 title and has said that neither will be looking to take the other off on purpose on the back of what happened at Monza.

The championship has been an enthralling one this season and it looks as though it is going to go right to the wire between the reigning champ and his Dutch challenger.

Indeed, they came acropper with one another last time out in Italy and it was Verstappen who was adjudged to be more at fault, receiving a three-place penalty for the Russian Grand Prix grid this weekend.

Hamilton, meanwhile, received a 10-second time penalty earlier this year for his involvement in the shunt at Silverstone between the pair and, as we approach our crescendo this season, there seems every chance we've not seen the last of the tangles between these two great drivers.

Vettel, though, does not believe that either of them is doing it on purpose and took a pretty balanced view on recent events between the two title protagonsists.

"No, I don't think so," Vettel said when asked if said incidents were intentional.

"I don't think any of us has the intention to crash going into a gap or going for a move.

"Obviously, as it turns out when things go wrong, there is someone to blame or sometimes there is not - it is normal.

"It is then for the stewards and the people to decide if there was somebody to blame which I don't think is always an easy call because every situation is different. As long as you are not involved, it is not that important."
