Highly rated Toulouse defender Aymen Abdennour has confirmed reports that Arsenal are interested in signing him, and says he would jump at the chance to move to the Barclays Premier League reports

The 22-year-old Tunisian full-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen, but after a string of impressive performances this term, has established himself in the Toulouse first-team.

Abdennour insists he is happy to remain in France and continue his development playing in Ligue 1, but admits that if the Gunners were to make an offer, then a move to the Emirates Stadium would be too good to turn down.

"It's [Arsenal's interest] true, I've heard a lot of talk while I've been at Toulouse," he told Footplus. "They come to watch and scout players. They came to see our last three matches in which I put forward excellent performances for my side.

"My agent, Mr Abdelkader, he's the one focused on these things. He's a professional and he always tells me to work hard and whatever is good for me, God will help it through. I need to work and stay focused with my side."

Arsene Wenger strengthened his defensive options with the addition of Per Mertesacker and Andre Santos in the summer transfer window, but after the sale of left-sided defenders Gael Clichy and Armand Traore, Arsenal could turn their attention to Abdennour in January.

"We're going through a good period a Toulouse, God willing, we'll continue on this path and then hopefully the two sides can come to an agreement," he continued. "[But] I'm not going to get involved.

"If there's something good for the player and for Toulouse in me being transferred to a big club like Arsenal then why not? Right now I'm still happy at my club. I want to improve at Toulouse."
