Anthony Joshua has revealed the hardest puncher he has ever faced and surprisingly, it isn't Andy Ruiz Jr.
AJ is one of the best heavyweight boxers in the world at present and has enjoyed a great professional career after winning the Olympic gold as an amateur.
Out of 25 fights, the Brit has won 24 while losing just one.
Joshua's only defeat in his professional career has come at the hands of Andy Ruiz Jr. who beat him via technical knockout in June, 2019.
However, when asked which fighter hit him the hardest, the 31-year-old surprisingly did not say Destroyer's name.
Instead, he went for Wladimir Klitschko who floored him when the two fought in 2017. As quoted by talkSPORT, Joshua said:
"Who’s hit me the hardest? Yeah, Klitschko. I was gonna say Ruiz, but when he hit me that was like a concussion on the back of my head.
"When I went in with Klitschko, yeah, I just knew this could go two ways. I could either win or I’m gonna be laid out on my back. You know when you get carried out on a stretcher? It was the 15 that came after that as well. This guy’s a beast, he’s a beast.“
Despite being floored by Klitschko, Joshua eventually went on to beat him in the 11th round via technical knockout to retain his IBF heavyweight title while also winning the vacant WBA (Super) and IBO heavyweight titles. This was to be the last fight of the Ukrainian's illustrious career.
Despite Klitschko being in the twilight of his career, he did manage to give Joshua quite a fight. AJ went on to win his next three fights before being beaten by Ruiz.
However, he did get his revenge against the American six months later.
Joshua is scheduled to fight Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow to defend his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.
