Kimi Raikkonen is back amongst it this weekend in Formula 1 after missing the last couple of races thanks to a positive covid result.

The Flying Finn bows out of the sport at the end of this season and it was a shame he had to miss Grands Prix in both the Netherlands and Italy but, of course, it is a reminder that we are still in unprecedented times.

It may, though, have given the Alfa Romeo driver a good insight into what life without F1 is going to be like and it sounds as though he managed to keep himself occupied, suggesting he only really watched a bit of action in typical Kimi fashion.

He responded when asked if he watched both races that he missed:

“Not fully, no. I don’t remember what happened but, you know, I watched the start and some laps here or there but not the full thing.

“I mean, obviously racing would have been nice, for sure. [There were] some interesting end results for the race, but it was what it was and I was at home so it was okay.

“Obviously [Alfa Romeo] wished for a better end result for both of them but that’s how it went and it is not easy [for Kubica] to come back after not driving for a long time and go in the race. They did the best they could.”

This rather sums Kimi up, too. Unless he is driving the car his interest is quite often focused on his home and family these days and it's clear he's in a pretty good place in his life.

Hopefully, though, he can see out the final eight planned races of this campaign and get some good results in the process, before finally hanging up his driving gloves.
