Ralph Hasenhuttl will never resign as Southampton manager and his reign will only end if he is sacked, according to journalist Tom Barclay.
When has Hasenhuttl come under fire?
Hasenhuttl has been in the Southampton hotseat for close to three years, having been appointed in December 2018.
The Austrian headed to the Premier League for the first time as a successor to Mark Hughes, who had been sacked after just eight months in charge.
Hasenhuttl moved to Southampton with great pedigree, having only walked away from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig - where he amassed 41 wins in 83 matches - a matter of months earlier.
But the 54-year-old has come under fire at various times during his Southampton reign, most notably after his side suffered an embarrassing 9-0 home defeat to Leicester City in 2019.
The harrowing loss led to uncertainty over Hasenhuttl's future, with him accepting responsibility for the rout.
Although Saints opted against sacking Hasenhuttl, a second 9-0 thrashing followed last season, this time at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford.
It led to questions over whether Hasenhuttl will ever land another top job after suffering two 9-0 drubbings in the space of 466 days.
What has Tom Barclay said about Hasenhuttl?
Barclay believes Hasenhuttl will never walk away from St Mary's no matter how difficult the situation may get for him.
He insists the Southampton hierarchy would be forced into sacking the Austrian if they wanted to go in another direction.
Barclay told GMS: "Does anyone walk away as a manager anymore? They're just foregoing millions in terms of severance payments if they do that. No-one does that anymore.

"I'm sure these guys have already made so much money that they don't need to wait until they are sacked but I think we sort of slightly overlook that and think it's easy to walk away.
"I just couldn't really see that so it will probably be more of a sacking situation."
How have Southampton started the new season under Hasenhuttl?
Having seen Danny Ings depart for Aston Villa in a £25million deal and central defender Jannik Vestergaard seal a £15million switch to Leicester City during the summer transfer window, Saints have made a fairly promising start to the campaign by taking four points from their opening five Premier League outings.
Ings' departure came as a huge blow as he finished last season as the club's top goalscorer, with 13 goals, while central defender Vestergaard only missed eight Premier League fixtures last term.
Despite Vestergaard heading to pastures new, Saints have tightened up at the back in recent weeks and kept back-to-back clean sheets against West Ham United and Manchester City.
Hasenhuttl also led Southampton to the biggest away win in their history when they beat Newport County 8-0 in the League Cup last month.
