Since making history at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Emma Raducanu has become a household name.

The 18-year-old won the 2021 US Open – becoming the first qualifier to ever win a Grand Slam, and ending Britain's 44-year wait for another major female winner.

Raducanu's triumph in New York has resulted in signing lucrative brand deals with the likes of Tiffany's, and shooting up from 150th to 22nd in the WTA world rankings.

Weeks after her US Open win over Leylah Fernandez, the world is still talking about the history-making youngster.

Former world number one Andy Murray has been a vocal supporter of Raducanu since her Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon. The Scot described her Flushing Meadows victory as 'huge for British tennis'.

Murray's mother and coach, Judy, has echoed her son's sentiments and says Raducanu is a "massive inspiration."

She then went on to discuss the expected growth of grassroots tennis after the teen wowed the nation with a title in just her second ever Grand Slam.

"I think for grassroots tennis to grow, and especially for girls’ tennis, to have a teen role model, it couldn’t be better for getting more girls involved in playing the game," Murray told the BBC while visiting Mile End Primary School in Aberdeen.

"So we’re hoping lots of the girls that are here today at Mile End Primary will be inspired by what she did and want to play our wonderful sport.

"We have to take advantage of the massive opportunity that Emma's success and her profile and the excitement that that has brought."

The US Open final was an inspiring event before the competitors even took to the court. Both finalists were teenagers and they played out perhaps the most entertaining match of the entire tournament.

In fact, the women's singles final brought in more viewers (2.44 million average) than the men's singles event featuring Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev (2.05 million average).

Raducanu's next expected appearance on court will be in the Kremlin Cup in Moscow next month.
