WWE: New 7ft 3' AEW signing Satnam Singh had WWE tryout in 2017

Satnam Singh had WWE tryout in 2017

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has announced the signing of 25-year-old Satnam Singh, a former NBA player who stands at a staggering 7ft 3".

Satnam Singh is the first-ever Indian and Sikh player to have been drafted in the NBA when he was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in 2015.

Singh is going to be training with Cody Rhodes and the other trainers at the Nightmare Factory in Atlanta, where Shaquille O'Neal trained before his match with AEW earlier this year.

AEW announced the news yesterday with a press release, with the company's President Tony Khan having the following to say about his newest big acquisition.

"While we've recently secured some of the hottest free agents on the planet, I'm also deeply committed to cultivating our own homegrown stars and the next generation of extraordinary professional wrestlers," Tony Khan said. "In addition to Satnam's commanding 7'3" stature, I was impressed with his high level of athleticism and charisma. He's an exciting addition to our roster, and I'm looking forward to our fans getting to know Satnam's personality and watching his development."

Satnam Singh's time in basketball gained a lot of mainstream media attention, with Netflix producing a documentary entitled 'One in a Billion' focusing his journey to getting drafted into the NBA.

While he is best known for his basketball career, Satnam Singh is no stranger to the world of professional wrestling, with the 25-year-old actually taking part in a WWE tryout in 2017.

It's unclear why Satnam Singh never joined WWE following his 2017 tryout, but over four years later, the former basketballer is going to be training at the Nightmare Factory ahead of a run with AEW.
