Arsenal vs Tottenham: Fan Zone footage from 2008 will always be funny

Arsenal vs Spurs Fan Footage

The North London derby is one of the most iconic games in the English footballing calendar.

While that sounds like a painstakingly obvious thing to say, it’s hard to remember too many editions of Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur that haven’t lived up to expectations.

Indeed, while it’s almost impossible to remember the last time Liverpool and Manchester United put on a show in another of the Premier League‘s biggest games, the North London derby rarely fails to deliver.

Usually, of course, the drama happens on the field but – such is the fiery nature of the fan culture surrounding the game – we are often treated to some absolute gold off of it too.

As if the 4-4 draw between the two clubs at the Emirates Stadium in 2008 wasn’t chaotic enough, the fixture provided perhaps the peak moment of Sky Sports’ Fan Zone.

The feature would pit a fan of each club in a makeshift commentary booth to run the rule over the live game. As you can imagine, hilarity would often ensue, particularly when a game as emotionally charged as the North London derby would be on show.

Below, you can see what happened in full.

Such was the frantic nature of the game, the Arsenal fan made sure he would rub his Spurs counterpart’s nose in the fact his team had turned things around.

After David Bentley’s opener for Spurs, Mikael Silvestre, William Gallas and Emmanuel Adebayor would put Arenal 3-1 up. Even Darren Bent’s goal to bring Spurs back into proceedings would only last a minute before Robin van Persie restored his side’s two-goal advantage.

Spurs, however, rallied and goals from Jermaine Jenas and Aaron Lennon in the final two minutes would make it a derby day to remember.

What a day for the Fan Zone.
