Journalist Tom Barclay is not surprised the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are targeting Brighton & Hove Albion's Yves Bissouma as everything about his game is "perfect".

What's the latest news involving Bissouma?

Liverpool made an official enquiry for Bissouma just a matter of days before the summer window closed last month, but the Mali international remained at the Amex Stadium.

It has been claimed that Liverpool, along with Manchester United and Arsenal, could be involved in a three-way fight for the midfielder's services when the transfer market reopens in January.

Interest from Premier League rivals will come as no surprise to Brighton after Bissouma ranked himself as the best midfielder in the top flight earlier this month.

The 25-year-old also ramped up speculation over his future after confirming to Brighton's in-house media department, via Metro, that he has set his sights on playing in the Champions League and challenging for titles.

However, he still has just shy of two years remaining on his £25,000-per-week contract with the Seagulls, meaning Brighton are likely to demand a substantial fee if Bissouma's suitors firm up their interest.

What has Tom Barclay said about Bissouma?

Having watched Bissouma closely since his £15million move from French side Lille more than three years ago, Barclay has seen the central midfielder continue to develop his game.

The journalist reckons he is the ideal box-to-box star in the Premier League and struggles to find a negative aspect to his style of play.

As a result, Barclay feels Bissouma has a big future ahead of him.

He told GMS: "He's just improved every game. In every match I watch him, he's pretty flawless.

"He's a brilliant box-to-box player, has so much energy, goes in with the tackles, has got a shot on him, a good pass and movement. Everything is perfect."

Who else rates Bissouma highly?

Shortly before the end of last season, former England international striker Gary Lineker took to social media to hail Bissouma as an "exceptional footballer".

Ahead of Brighton's win over Leicester City last weekend, Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers praised Bissouma's physicality and defensive work for the Seagulls.

Heading into Monday's clash with arch-rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, Bissouma is just nine outings short of reaching 100 Premier League appearances.

Despite speculation over his future, Bissouma clearly remains in Brighton boss Graham Potter's plans as he has started all five of the Seagulls' top flight fixtures so far.
