Nice chairman Jean-Pierre Riviere claims there is no guarantee the club will sign former Tottenham target Yannick Djalo in January according to skysports.com.
The Ligue 1 outfit had agreed a deal in principle with Sporting Lisbon over the transfer of the 25-year-old striker, but failed to get the relevant documents processed before the close of the transfer window - meaning the move was blocked.
It was heavily anticipated that Nice would return for the Portuguese international in the New Year, but Riviere claims that the club are yet to make a decision.
"We have been left disappointed," the chairman told L'Equipe. "It is a shame for both us and him that a deal has not happened.
"We wanted him now and nothing has been set up for the future. There is no agreement to sign him during the next transfer window."
News of Djalo's availability may alert Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, after the player was linked with a move to White Hart Lane last summer.
And with current fourth-choice striker Roman Pavlyuchenko keen for regular first-team action, his future at Tottenham looks to be in doubt, so Redknapp may consider a move for Djalo to replace the Russian if he leaves in January.
