The worst 15 seconds in football history? Boluspor's absolute howler at Gençlerbirligi

Gençlerbirligi v Boluspor goes viral for producing worst 15 seconds of football this season

Gençlerbirligi and Boluspor will probably want to forget all about their game on Saturday.

‘The Red and Blacks’ ran out 1-0 winners over their TFF 1. Lig rivals ‘Bolu Beyi’ at the Eryaman Stadium in Ankara.

But Boluspor probably had the best chance in the game shortly before the half-time break.

What then followed was quite possibly the worst 15 seconds in football history.

The move started with a run down the right wing and a cross being whipped into the middle of the penalty area.

A defender fortunately got a lucky boot to the ball and hacked it clear.

But not for long as one of his teammates made a real hash of an attempted clearance.

Another defender followed up with another failed attempt to clear the ball which he skied dangerously towards the goal.

The goalkeeper managed to get a glove to it but only pushed it as far as the edge of the box.

This left the ball falling to the attacker with essentially a free shot at an open goal.

But somehow he managed to completely miss the target from a couple of metres away and dragged it wide.

How the ball didn’t end up in the back of the net I honestly have no idea.

You won’t see a worse 15 seconds than this

Thankfully there were no fans in the stadium at the time so the players were spared any further embarrassment.

That is until the footage came to the attention of ‘Out Of Context Football’ otherwise known as @nocontextfooty, who re-uploaded the video and distributed it to their 951,300 followers online.

As you can imagine, the clip quickly went viral, as it has currently amassed over 1,500 retweets and 17,500 likes at the time of writing, prompting some hilarious reactions from football fans around the world.
