The date and location for the 2022 Royal Rumble event has now been revealed, the third event to be confirmed by the company for next year.

The St Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the next Royal Rumble event will be taking place on January 29, 2022 in St Louis, Missouri.

The show is slated to take place at the Dome at America's Center, with in excess of 40,000 fans expected to be in attendance for the marquee event.

The date for the show is interesting, with previous reports having suggested that WWE was targeting February for the Royal Rumble next year.

Tishaura Jones, the current Mayor of St Louis, had the following to say about WWE bringing one of its biggest pay-per-views to the city next year:

“St Louis has the best sports scene in the country, and Royal Rumble will enhance it even more. This event is an incredible opportunity for our city, bringing WWE fans from across the nation to St Louis and helping keep our downtown vibrant during the winter season.”

John P Saboor, the current Executive Vice President of Special Events for WWE added the following, citing the relationship between WWE and St. Louis as a reason for the location choice:

“Our decision to present the Royal Rumble at the Dome is a powerful reminder of a special relationship built over decades with WWE and St. Louis.”

Last year's Royal Rumble event was put on in front of no fans due to COVID-19, so WWE will be hoping to put in a mammoth pay-per-view in January 2022.

This is not the only pay-per-view confirmed for January next year, with WWE previously announcing that a special New Year's Day pay-per-view will be taking place.

The Royal Rumble is the start of the road to WrestleMania, with WWE already announcing that next year's marquee pay-per-view will take place on April 3 in Texas.
