Gary Neville is not best pleased with Manchester United right now.

Despite a fantastic summer transfer window that saw the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, there are already serious questions being asked of the Red Devils.

And while that may seem extreme when you consider that United still sit fourth in the Premier League table, it's their recent form that has made the Old Trafford faithful more than just a bit concerned.

Man Utd's woes

United slumped to an embarrassing Champions League defeat at Young Boys, dropped out of the Carabao Cup to West Ham United and suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Aston Villa in the league.

And it's the nature of these defeats that have made United fans so alarmed because it feels as though the team is lacking a consistent identity under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's stewardship.

That, by the way, is exactly why Neville is feeling miffed about his boyhood club and broke down exactly why he thinks United aren't playing like a compared to their Premier League rivals.

However, when Neville wasn't breaking down the issues at Old Trafford during his podcast, he was answering questions submitted by fans on his Twitter page.

Neville names his best Man Utd XI

Having started a Q&A on Monday afternoon, proceedings quickly returned to United when Neville was asked: "What's your starting 11 for United if everyone is fit ? @gnev2."

It was an interesting question from Twitter user @WhaleedE and one that brought out a surprising response from Neville to the point that his Sky Sports colleague Jamie Carragher just had to reply.

Neville opted for the following line-up: David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani and Ronaldo.

Yes, that's right, Neville decided against playing either Marcus Rashford or Sancho and bravely made the move to essentially deploy three number nines across the front three.

To that, Carragher replied: "So is Pogba not a left winger anymore @GNev2 🤦‍♂️ The right winger you said the club were desperate for doesn’t play 🤨 & you’ve got Ronaldo wide 🤷‍♂️ Ossie Ardiles wouldn’t pick that team 😂😂"

What is Man Utd's best XI?

You've got to sympathise with Carragher's worries about the starting XI, though Neville clearly wasn't taking the matter too seriously as he simply replied: "Just having fun with the fans James."

However, the point remains that United's top-heavy and midfield-light squad does make it incredibly difficult to pinpoint the best possible XI that Solskjaer could use to win the Premier League title.

There is certainly enough quality in the United ranks to go all the way this season, but whether or not Solskjaer - or Neville on Twitter, for that matter - can knit them all together remains to be seen.
