Liverpool target Lucas is being linked with a January move to Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

El Confidencial claims that president Florentino Perez has held talks with manager Jose Mourinho over possible transfer targets for January and the summer, with a replacement for former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso thought to be high on their agenda.

Daniele de Rossi is named as one potential target, whilst Sao Paolo starlet Lucas is the other name mentioned in Spanish press reports.

The 19-year-old Brazilian is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in South American football alongside Neymar, another player linked with Los Blancos, and the Tricolor Paulista are reportedly willing to sell for a fee in the region of £30 million.

Inter Milan have also been linked with a move, whilst Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is also keen on bringing the youngster to Liverpool in a New Year deal.

The Merseysiders invested heavily on young, attacking talent in both January and the summer, with Andy Carroll and Jordan Henderson two examples of the club's ambition to build for the future at Liverpool now.

Namesake and Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva could also play a pivotal role in trying to bring the player to the club, with the pair now well acquainted during their time together on the international stage.
