Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher has suggested that Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton is currently the most complete driver on the grid.

The Briton recorded his 100th Grand Prix win at the weekend, becoming the first driver in the sport to achieve the milestone, and now has his eyes on the ultimate record of becoming the first to win eight world titles.

Of course, he has Max Verstappen in more than close proximity at the moment with the Dutchman just two points behind the Briton in the standings after a good recovery drive in Sochi and it very much looks as though this title fight is going to go to the wire.

With a third left of the season, it's anyone's guess as to who will take the crown but it would appear Ralf feels that Lewis at least has the more well-rounded skillset available to him to try and get the job done.

Writing in his column for Sky Sport in Germany, the former Williams and Toyota driver explained:

"Lewis is currently the most complete racing driver in the field.

“He has a lot of experience and works closely with the team. Whenever it matters in qualifying or in the race, he can deliver his performance flawlessly.”

It's a thought process that many would share with Ralf, and Lewis has worked hard on becoming a better team player in more recent years compared to when he first started.

That naturally comes with experience, then, and the reigning champion will be using every last bit of his knowledge from title fights gone by to try and see off his hard-charging Dutch rival.
