Max Verstappen was caught on camera sharing a joke with Valtteri Bottas after the Finn's Mercedes team opted to take another engine change for the Russian Grand Prix.

News broke soon before lights out in Sochi that Bottas would be the latest man to take an engine change and subsequent penalty, joining the likes of Charles Leclerc and, of course, Verstappen towards the rear of the field.

The cynics among the sport suggested it was a ploy by Mercedes to try and halt the Dutchman's rise through the pack from the back, too, though Verstappen had got past the Finn by the end of lap six to allay any such concerns for people of a Red Bull persuasion.

For Bottas, though, it's become a bit of a familiar feeling having an engine change with Mercedes now going over the limit twice and having also done so in two straight races - Valtteri also had to start the Italian Grand Prix from the wrong end of the grid a couple of weeks back.

That's not been lost on Max either, with him making his point to Valtteri in joking fashion in the paddock in Sochi:
