The UEFA Champions League returned this week with some absolute box office clashes on Matchday 2.Undoubtedly though, the pick of round was the titanic 'El Cashico' game between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.PSG went all out, picking a terrifying front three consisting of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and the one and only Lionel Messi. However, despite a comedy of riches up front, it was Idrissa Gueye who would break the deadlock with an emphatic strike from close range.City then had chances of their own with Bernardo Silva criminally spurning a rubber stamped chance from just two yards out with the keeper out of the equation. There was controversy in the latter stages of the first half though, when Kevin De Bruyne avoided being shown a red card for a brutal challenge on the goalscorer, Gueye.De Bruyne appeared to stomp on the opposing midfielder, but was not given his marching orders.

Manchester United fans were quick to point out how similar the challenge was to one that saw Aaron Wan Bissaka shown red against Young Boys on Matchday 1.

It certainly does look very similar and you can understand why United fans would be upset that De Bruyne is still on the field.

In the end, it would matter little to the end result with PSG going on to record a comfortable win on the night.

Lionel Messi finally broke his Parisian duck with a quick superb finish following a dart from midfield and a gorgeous little exchange with Kylian Mbappe.

The result sees City drop down into third place in the group leaving Pep Guardiola's men with plenty of work to do if they wish to finish top of Group A.
