Daily Star journalist Paul Brown feels that Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard's performance went largely under the radar during Sunday's north London derby win over Tottenham.

How did Odegaard perform against Spurs?

Having scored the winning goal against Burnley the previous weekend, Odegaard entered Sunday's game full of confidence, as the Gunners looked to pick up a win over their bitter rivals to move above them in the table.

They did just that, seeing off Nuno Espirito Santo's side 3-1, although Odegaard failed to get on the scoresheet or register an assist. Still, he managed to deliver three key passes - none of his teammates completed more - and he was tidy in possession as he made 88% of his attempted passes (via WhoScored).

What did Brown make of Odegaard's display?

Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka scored Arsenal's goals, meaning that Odegaard was the only member of the front four not to find the net. Still, Brown was impressed by the Norwegian's display, and claimed that the 22-year-old controlled the game from start to finish.

Speaking about Odegaard's latest outing to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “I thought a lot of what he did went quite unnoticed. He was very heavily involved in at least two of the goals but basically ran everything quite comfortably. Nobody got close to him. If you look at all the best things Arsenal did, they mostly came through Odegaard or there was an Odegaard pass in there, or even if he doesn’t touch the ball, there was a run where he takes somebody away, makes space for someone else. And that little bit of movement created some problems.”

Is Odegaard underrated at Arsenal?

Odegaard's performance on the weekend seems to have been overlooked by many, and it could be argued that the creative midfielder, who Arsenal signed permanently for £30m last month, does not get the same adulation as some of his teammates in general at the Emirates.

Smith Rowe and Saka have been shining lights at Arsenal over the last 12 months, and the fact that they are youngsters playing for their boyhood club means that they will always attract added attention. Then there is Aubameyang, who is the captain and has shown signs of returning to his best form in recent weeks by scoring in his last two home games

However, Odegaard has stood up and been counted, particularly in the last two matches, and if he keeps performing at his current level it won't be too long before he starts to get the plaudits that he deserves.
