Lionel Messi has officially arrived at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine had been underwhelming in his first three games for the club.

He did not score in his opening three games and was visibly upset after being subbed off late against Lyon.

Messi missed two games through injury but was back in the starting lineup for PSG's massive Champions League clash against Manchester City.

And Messi produced his best performance in a PSG shirt so far.

The 34-year-old marked his display with a stunning strike in the 74th minute, his first for PSG.

Messi picked up the ball on the half-way line and drove towards City's goal.

He played a one-two with Kylian Mbappe before pinging the ball into the top corner. It really was a masterful finish.

Messi admitted after the game that he was relieved to finally get off the mark for PSG.

"It's true that I was getting desperate to score my first goal," Messi told French broadcaster Canal Plus, per BBC.

"I hadn't played much recently and I had only played once here at home but I am settling into the team little by little.

"The more us forwards play together, the better our relationship will be. We all need to grow together and improve and keep giving our best."

Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, sung Messi's praises after the game.

"We dealt with PSG first of all, but we know it's impossible to control Leo for 90 minutes," Guardiola said, per Sky Sports.

"He was not much in touch with the ball - of course he was coming back from injury, he needed a bit of rhythm - but we know quite well when he can run and get close to the ball, he is unstoppable.

"I wish him the best. If he is happy and enjoying this period in Paris, I will be happy."

Should Messi keep producing moments of magic like he did against City, PSG will be virtually unstoppable in this season's Champions League.
