Whilst fans enjoyed the action packed Ryder Cup 2021 last week and through to the weekend, one lucky punter won almost $1 million from an $8 12-leg parlay bet.

Talk about a long shot!

In order to see out the crazy bet, there needed to be wins from Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Daniel Berger, Dustin Johnson, Lee Westwood, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter, Patrick Cantlay and Scottie Scheffler.

As well as this, he needed ties between Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland and one from the clash between Tommy Fleetwood and Jordan Spieth.

The pair’s meeting came down to the wire before both players conceded gimme putts, resulting in a tie.

Scheffler’s win saw him shockingly dismantle the No.1 ranked Jon Rahm, which also worked well for the punter who had the star to win (+230).

Morikawa’s tie with Hovland was caused by him missing a 10-foot putt on the 18th, and the 24-year old American was their youngest representative of the tournament.

He gave his country the victory on the final day of the competition, breaking Europe’s dominance over the past five years, having won four of the past five.

And the bet has already made its way around Twitter with people reacting to the remarkable choices, with one person commenting: “Absolutely ridiculous and wonderful at the same time.”

Another added: “Gotta be the largest ratio in gambling history.”

Many in-awe commenters were in disbelief at the winner’s ability to pick the ties - which is regularly the most difficult option to choose in any sport.

The almost-millionaire wished to stay anonymous after his win - likely to avoid fellow punters asking for tips!

However, it’s a shame we couldn’t see the reaction after they realised they were pocketing $966k.
