New World: Can Casual Gamers Enjoy the MMORPG?

Here's what casual gamers need to know about New World

Amazon Games recently released New World on PC, but is the MMORPG a game that casual players can enjoy?

The company is hoping that the title will become a big hit in the genre, as some high profile flops over the past couple of years have hurt the reputation of the publisher, such as Crucible.

With the release of such a major new title, casual fans may be wondering if it is something they want to get into.

The initial reviews for the game have mainly been positive, with praise being heaped on the “stellar” combat, fascinating world in-game, the deep loot system and the promise of lots and lots of post-game content from Amazon Games.

Whether the game will catch on with fans of the MMORPG genre universally remains to be seen, but it looks like the game has got off to a strong start.

Here's what casual gamers need to know about New World

Is New World good for casual gamers?

Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek, one of the top streamers and gaming names online suggests that casual fans of online games should stay away from New World.

“For those that just don’t have the time, I would just say stay away from the game,” he stated. “If you don’t have the time, just don’t play. If you can only play this game for an hour a day, I don’t think you’ll ever make it to the end.

“There’s going to be content for a new zone with new gear. You’re finally going to hit max level, start getting the basic gear, and then you’re like, ‘oh sh*t!’”

In terms of great titles for MMORPG players who maybe are a little strapped for time, you would be best looking at the likes of Mabinogi, Runescape, World of Warcraft, DC Universe Online and Guild Wars 2.

As is the case with a new game release, it is likely that ‘casual’ players will be part of the numbers of New World as the game picks up, but very quickly we will likely see these numbers drop off as the ‘hardcore’ players begin to get further into the mechanics and steam ahead of the competition.
