Tuesday evening was all about one man in the footballing world and that man is Lionel Andres Messi.

The Argentine genius scored his first goal for new club Paris Saint-Germain in the team's 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Parc des Princes.

Messi delivered the goods for the French outfit in the 74th-minute and the strike from the six-time Ballon d'Or winner was absolutely magnificent.

The former Barcelona man picked up the ball right on the halfway line and proceeded to charge towards a retreating City defence.

He then played a one-two with fellow superstar Kylian Mbappe, before producing a stunning finish with his trusty left peg that flew past a helpless Ederson.

It was a trademark goal by the 34-year-old and one that PSG fans will never, ever forget.

That roar when the ball ripples the back of the net is quite something.

It's rare that fan footage is better than that produced by television broadcasters, but that might just be the case with regards to the video above.

PSG fans and manager Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that Messi's wonder-goal versus City on Tuesday is just the start of something special.

The diminutive forward has taken a little while to get going in the French capital, but his overall performance against Pep Guardiola's side was mighty impressive.
