Mohamed Salah was in red hot form once again on Tuesday night as he put Porto to the sword in the Champions League.

Liverpool made light work of what could’ve been a tricky group stage clash in Portugal, as the old gang got back together with further goals from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

The Reds ran riot at the Estadio do Dragao, smashing in five goals as they extended their lead at the top of Group C.

It was yet another vintage Salah performance, who continues to prove that he is one of the best players on the planet week-in week-out.

In fact, there are some in the footballing fraternity who believe Salah may even be the best player in the world right now.

Speaking in the aftermath of another Salah masterclass, ex-Liverpool star-turned-pundit Dean Saunders, made the bold claim that the Egyptian King is a class above everyone at the moment.

Referencing the likes of Lionel Messi – who bagged his first goal for PSG last night – and Cristiano Ronaldo, Saunders was adamant when defending his claim.

“Right now, as we speak, who’s better than him?” Saunders told talkSPORT.

“Eight goals in eight games from right-wing, he’s not playing down the middle. He just looks unstoppable.”

Saunders then went on to say: “There’s Messi and Ronaldo, who are on their own, but right now they’re not as good as Salah.”

When asked `whether he would take Salah or Ronaldo, Saunders answered: “Right now, Salah.

“It’s easy to say Ronaldo, but right now Salah looks like he’s going to score every week.”

Saunders does make a very good point. It is so often forgotten that Salah’s copious returns come from the wing and not a central role.

While he doesn’t hold a candle on Messi and Ronaldo in terms of career achievements, based on current form, you could certainly say that Salah is the better option.

That being said, Messi gave us a taste of what he is capable of last night with his superb strike and you can never rule out Ronaldo for too long.

For now though, Salah continues to dominate and is perhaps finally receiving the credit he has long deserved for his performances in the famous Liverpool red.
