Motorsport as a whole has rapidly grown in popularity over the last few years and already we're seeing gaps being bridged between the men's and women's classes.
This year, the W Series partnered with Formula 1 to take the championship to never before seen heights.
The women in the W Series have been racing on some of the most famous circuits in the world – supporting the highest tier of single-seater racing.
From Silverstone to Spa, all the way to the Circuit of the Americas, where the season finale will take place.
GiveMeSport Women sat down with BT Sport presenter Suzi Perry to discuss the level of talent in the W Series and the link with Formula 1.
"What’s exciting for me about W, apart from the obvious – where we’re seeing women in the spotlight and they’re inspiring and empowering younger girls to want to do the same thing – is the amount of British talent that’s there.
"I’m a big fan of Abbi Pulling, I’ve known her since she was very small and she was winning awards at the British Racing Drivers' Club.
"Alice [Powell] and Jamie [Chadwick] are just so talented and it’s great to see that close fight at the front. I know Sarah [Moore] has had success this year as well, so it’s brilliant watching the young British girls coming through."
With just two races left in the series, the title challenge is really bubbling up. Reigning champion Chadwick and compatriot Powell are currently tied on 109 points at the top of the drivers' standings, having been locked in a constant battle throughout the year.
A huge prize awaits the winner of the 2021 W Series and talks of integration into Formula 1 have also been swirling.
The last woman to start on an F1 grid was Lella Lombardi in 1976 and Perry believes now is the time to shatter the glass ceiling and have women racing alongside the world's best once again.
The ex-Formula 1 presenter believes the partnership has boosted the credibility of the W Series and the drivers have stepped up to the challenge.
Perry also said "there is no reason not to" bring women into F1 again and reflected on the awe-inspiring Susie Wolff – who was a development driver for Williams before becoming an ambassador for Mercedes in 2016.
"It would be really great to see Alice, Jamie, Sarah, Abbi, any of those girls – or all of those girls – stepping up and being able to make the move [to F1].
"It's been 45 years since we've seen a woman start in Formula 1, it's about time we had another one. Hopefully the dream will be realised and we'll get a girl in Formula 1 soon."
The penultimate round of the W Series 2021 season will take place on October 23rd at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
