Fati vs Otamendi: Fans think they know what Benfica man said to Barcelona ace in clash

Otamendi and Fati clashed in Benfica vs Barcelona

Barcelona succumbed to another heavy defeat in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

After being dismantled 3-0 by Bayern Munich at Camp Nou, Barca travelled to Benfica with the hopes of getting their campaign back on track.

But they fell to another three-goal defeat.

Barca got off to the worst possible start as Darwin Nunez scored after just three minutes.

Rafa Silva notched Benfica’s second in the 69th minute before Nunez scored again as the Portuguese side inflicted another heavy defeat on Barca.

There was a heated moment between Nicolas Otamendi and Ansu Fati after the game.

With the final whistle just moments away, Fati fouled the Argentine defender as they went for the ball.

Otamendi could then be seen having words with the Spanish youngster.

CBS Sports, as well as many football fans, think the veteran defender was saying: ‘Who are you?’

The disrespect. It wouldn’t be surprising at all if Otamendi did indeed ask Fati who he was given his history in the game.

Barca are now rock bottom of Group E and have an uphill task of making the knockout rounds.

Ronald Koeman was understandably not happy at all with the result.

Speaking after the game, per the Evening Standard, he said: “It’s a tough result to take, and it’s not what we saw on the pitch.

“While we conceded early, we were good until it became 2-0. We had a number of chances to score and didn’t take them. That’s how you change games.

“If they score the three chances they create and we don’t, then that’s the big difference between the sides.”

Koeman’s position is now seriously under threat but he recognises his future is not up to him.

He added: “I can only give you my opinion of my work at the club – I feel backed by my players and their attitude. The rest, the club, I’m not sure… I can’t say any more, because I don’t know what the club thinks in that sense. It’s not in my hands.”
