Manchester United's Edinson Cavani went viral on Wednesday evening when he showed ridiculous effort to chase down what appeared to be a lost cause during the Red Devils' thrilling 2-1 win over Villarreal in the Champions League.

It summed up the Uruguayan's work rate and desire, which have helped him to become a firm favourite among United fans since his arrival at the club in October 2020.

As well as the goals he's scored and his generosity - he gave up the No.7 shirt upon Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival in August - Cavani has endeared himself to United's supporters in a special way.

During Wednesday's win against Villarreal at Old Trafford, sealed courtesy of Ronaldo's strike in the 95th minute, Cavani came off the bench to help inspire United's comeback.

Indeed, he showed great strength to keep hold of the ball in the build up to Ronaldo's winner.

And Cavani's passion after the win was clear to see.

Following an injury-hit start to the 2021/22 season, Cavani figures to play an important role for United in what is a season with high expectations.

Cavani has already showed that he'll do whatever it takes to help United in their pursuit of trophies - and that even includes causing a bit of mischief on the touchline.

A sub until the 75th minute, the former Paris Saint-Germain striker was sent out to warm up by Solskjaer when he decided to ruffle some feathers among the opposing bench.

The Athletic have reported how Cavani disrupted Villarreal's substitutes as they carried out an intense warm-up, much to the frustration of Unai Emery's staff.

According to the report, Villarreal's subs, in groups of three, went through a high tempo route from the 50th minute. Cavani interrupted by stretching his muscles between them, on the wrong side of the dugout for United's subs, provoking an 'angry' reaction from Emery's team.

Even when he's not on the pitch, he still managed to bring the chaos.

The result left United in third place in Group F, just a point behind group leaders Atalanta.
