David de Gea: Man Utd star's passionate reaction to Cristiano Ronaldo's goal v Villarreal emerges

David de Gea celebrates United's win vs Villarreal with Ronaldo and Cavani

Manchester United beat Villarreal 2-1 in a dramatic Champions League clash at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

United were losing by a goal with 35 minutes of the game remaining.

But they restored parity through Alex Telles on the hour-mark, before Cristiano Ronaldo won it for the Red Devils in the 95th minute.

The Portuguese legend has got the lion’s share of the credit for United’s victory but his winner wouldn’t have been possible without the brilliance of David de Gea.

The Spaniard has endured a tricky few years. De Gea’s performances had declined and he lost his place to Dean Henderson.

But he has been immense at the start of the 2021/22 campaign and he continued his strong from against the Spanish outfit.

Villarreal were by far the better team for 60 minutes against United but De Gea kept them at bay time and time again.

His six saves meant United had a chance to win it late on – and that’s exactly what Ronaldo did.

De Gea’s reaction to Ronaldo has now emerged and it’s passion personified. View it below:

You love to see it.

De Gea has been a great servant to United and he’s now performing at his very best once again.

United fans enjoyed his passionate celebrations after Ronaldo’s goal and you can view some of the reaction below:

De Gea’s performance was so good on the evening that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer felt the need to pay tribute to him after the game.

“Thankfully we had the best goalkeeper in the world tonight,” Solskjaer said, per Goal. “David was fantastic. Second-half, they had more of the ball, it was open and they deserved to lead.

Ole still under pressure at Man United?! Check out the latest news on The Football Terrace…

“Old Trafford is magic. Champions League at Old Trafford… sometimes that history can help us and tonight Cristiano came up with a good goal and Alex [Telles] came up with a fantastic goal.

“[De Gea] had a difficult summer. He went to the Euros and didn’t play there, but he’s really come back with a determination, a work rate, that I enjoy. Again, he got a deserved outcome.

“He saved us tonight. We have to be realistic and say that we’ve got two good keepers in Tom [Heaton] and Dean [Henderson], but today David deserves Man of the Match.”
