Many FIFA 22 players have been left unhappy after a controversy brewed regarding the opening of Ones To Watch (OTW) packs during the early hours of this morning.

It has been described as one of the most hotly disputed topics in recent years in the way that the packs were advertised by EA. This only concerned those players that pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 22, which meant they were gifted a free OTW pre-order pack.

An article was released on the EA website, which has since been removed, stating that OTW Player Item will be available from 1st October 2021 at 1 am BST.

Those gamers that went ahead and opened the pack at this time were surprised to discover that they only received a gold card, rather than an OTW.

In the small print under the pack itself, it said: "This pack contains a Ones to Watch Player [untradable]. Must be opened on or after 1st October 2021 at 5 pm UTC (6 pm BST)."

EA to compensate OTW packs

As a result of this, EA have made the decision to compensate those players that were misunderstood by the instructions that they provided, which could easily have been overlooked by some.

Via EA's official communications Twitter account (@EAFIFADirect), they said: "OTW Pre-Order Player Packs were unintentionally released prior to OTW Player Items being in FIFA 22.

OTW Pre-Order Packs currently can't be opened while we investigate the issue. Players who opened their Pack prior to OTW release will receive a new OTW Pack in the coming days."
