Bully Ray (formerly Bubba Ray Dudley in WWE) has revealed that he turned down Vince McMahon's offer to rejoin WWE as a producer.

D'Von Dudley currently works for WWE as a backstage producer, and his long-time tag team partner Bully Ray has revealed that Vince McMahon offered him the same role as well.

Speaking to JBL and Gerald Briscoe on their Stories with Briscoe and Bradshaw show, Bully Ray revealed that he was offered the chance to become a producer by WWE, but turned it down:

“Vince has offered me a position in the past. He has told me, ‘When you’re ready, I’d love to have you here as a producer.’ I don’t think the job is the same job it used to be when you (Gerald Brisco) were a producer or an agent. I believe the producers and agents now just kind of carry the marching orders of creative to the boys, and I don’t think the boys have as much input into things these days.”

Bully Ray went on to explain why he turned down the role, suggesting that he doesn't feel he would be creatively satisfied working for WWE as a producer.

“I do consider myself creative and if I don’t feel like that creativity can be put to work, for the guys and the girls putting their matches together, I kind of feel stifled. I would try it one day. It’s just it seems different than when you (Gerald Brisco) and Pat (Patterson) and Jack (Lanza) and Michael (Hayes) and the agents that I grew up on and worked with than they are today.”

Bully Ray left WWE the night after SummerSlam in 2016, going on to wrestle for the likes of Ring of Honor and at the All In pay-per-view, which was the prelude for what AEW would become.
