Cristiano Ronaldo's impact at Manchester United has been felt here, there and everywhere. From shirt sales going through the roof to five goals for the Red Devils already, it should come as no surprise that one of the greatest players of all time returning to United has captured the imagination. However, not everything about Ronaldo's return to the 'Theatre of Dreams' has been a fairy tale and that was certainly the case when Everton visited in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Man Utd vs Everton

Ronaldo had to settle for a place on the bench as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men looked to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa - and things started pretty well for the hosts.

Anthony Martial notched his first goal of the season to suggest that the Red Devils might not need their prodigal son this time around. But alas, Everton had a surprise in store.

Townsend drops Ronaldo celebration

That's because the Toffees responded in style from a fantastic counterattack - courtesy of Bruno Fernandes' awful corner - that culminated in Andros Townsend neatly finishing past David de Gea.

However, just to rub salt into United wounds, the in-form Englishman decided to whip out the Ronaldo celebration by way of jumping in the air, landing powerfully and declaring: 'Siiiiiiiuuuuu.'

There's no denying that Townsend was copying the routine that we've seen from Ronaldo so many times and there must at least have been a slight element of s***housery behind it - take a look:

Townsend explains the move

Speaking to BT Sport after the draw, Townsend explained his celebration by saying: "He's my idol. I grew up watching Ronaldo, I spent hours on the training pitch trying to execute his techniques.

"Maybe should have spent longer on the celebration because it wasn't great!" Fair play, Andros, fair play, but you'll forgive us for still thinking that there was an element of playfulness involved.

Worrying times for Man Utd

Considering some Villa fans had celebrated their victory at Old Trafford in similar fashion to Townsend, one can't help thinking that United and Ronaldo will be routinely mocked in this way.

However, with United almost finding themselves 2-1 down just a few minutes later with Yerry Mina ruled out for offside, you get the feeling that they have more to worry about than being bantered.

Besides, the pressure really is being ramped up on Solskjaer to finally produce a tangible assault on the Premier League title and it already feels like things are slipping away from them in 2021/22.

It's not hard to 'Siu' that United are in a spot of bother.
