Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday afternoon for a massive Premier League clash.

The two sides are among the very best in the world, meaning there will be a plethora of talent on show.

But how many players that will feature in the game can be considered world-class? We have tackled that question.

Now, 'world-class' is a loose term and its definition varies from person-to-person.

In our opinion, an individual that is among the best three players in the world in their position can be considered world-class.

We are judging every player on their form right now rather than what they have done over the course of their careers.

So, without further ado, scroll down below to find out the eight players from Liverpool and Man City that we think are world-class.

Disclaimer: We named the Premier League's 17 world-class players in August but opinions differ from writer to writer.

Kevin De Bruyne

No brainer. De Bruyne is the best midfielder in the world and has been a few years.

He will be essential if Man City are to come away from Anfield with all three points.

Mohamed Salah

Again, it's almost impossible to argue against Salah being world-class.

He notched 20 or more goals in each of his first four seasons at Liverpool and has already bagged eight in eight this campaign.

Alisson Becker

Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. There was a short period in the 2020/21 campaign where he struggled but he's now back to his very best.

The amount of points he has won for Liverpool over the years must be nearing triple figures.

Ederson

That's right. We think both Liverpool and Man City's goalkeepers are among the three best in the world (along with Jan Oblak).

Ederson's distribution is astonishingly good, he's confident in the air and he's a very good shot-stopper too.

Virgil van Dijk

Van Dijk is the best centre-back in the world. Despite being out of action for nearly a year through injury, the Dutchman has looked imperious since his return.

Lightning quick and dominant in the air, he must be a nightmare to play against.

Ruben Dias

Dias was the best centre-back in the Premier League during the 2020/21 season.

Man City had so many problems with their defence prior to Dias' arrival. It's no coincidence that their defence improved dramatically with him at the heart of it.

Andy Robertson

Robertson perhaps wasn't at his very best in Liverpool's 2020/21 campaign but can you name three left-backs better than him? We can't.

Fabinho

Fabinho is a wonderfully talented footballer. The protection he offers Liverpool's back four is vital to their success.

As well as in defensive midfield, he has the ability to play further forward and anywhere in defence too, which highlights how good he is.

So that's our eight. That means we don't think the likes of Jack Grealish, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mane are world-class.

While a wonderfully talented player, Grealish needs to add more goals and assists to his game.

Alexander-Arnold has come under some unnecessary criticism in the last year or so but we find it hard to call him world-class given he struggles to get in England's squad.

Meanwhile, Mane is still a brilliant player but just falls short of being among the best three wingers in the world.
