Manchester City were dealt their third Women's Super League defeat of the season at the hands of an inspired West Ham side on Sunday.The Irons entered the match as the underdogs but emerged on top after a calm and controlled display saw them bank a 2-0 win on the road.Dagný Brynjarsdóttir shocked the hosts with her first half header to break the deadlock, but it would be teammate Yui Hasegawa who would ultimately steal the show in Manchester.The Japanese international enjoyed a solid game from out wide, popping up with the assist for Brynjarsdóttir's opener with a neat cross. She was cool and collected on the ball, making a total of nine recoveries, two key passes, and winning three of her four attempted tackles, according to FotMob.In the dying embers of the match, when legs were tired and concentration was wavering, Hasegawa remained eagle-eyed and was able to capitalise on a defensive error by Demi Stokes.The Lioness attempted a back-pass to goalkeeper Karima Benameur Taieb but was caught out by the lurking Hasegawa, who latched onto the loose ball and pulled the trigger from distance with her first touch.The West Ham summer signing lobbed a stranded Taieb, who had no chance of getting back to claw the ball away. It sailed into the back of the net and the Hammers in the crowd erupted into celebration.

After being locked in a gritty relegation battle last season, the Irons have come out of the blocks firing. They currently sit fourth in the WSL table on seven points, just two behind reigning champions Chelsea.

Goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold also played a huge part in West Ham's shock win – producing a total of seven saves to keep Man City's attack at bay.

The East Londoners will take on Birmingham City in their next league fixture next Sunday at Rush Green.
