Liverpool 2-2 Manchester City was an absolute thriller.

The Premier League's two best teams did battle at Anfield on Sunday and those who were lucky to watch were treated to an all-time classic.

Liverpool took the lead at the start of the second half through Sadio Mane, the Senegalese beating Ederson with a low shot after a wonderful pass from Mohamed Salah.

City fought back, though, and levelled the scores shortly after through the prodigious Phil Foden.

The Englishman has now beaten Alisson Becker on his last two trips to Anfield, which is a pretty impressive record for someone so young.

Liverpool then thought they'd struck the decisive blow in the 76th-minute when Salah netted one of the greatest solo goals of the decade - which you can watch HERE.

But City refused to be beaten and five minutes later, Pep Guardiola's side made it 2-2 when Kevin De Bruyne fired home from the edge of the box with his 'weaker' left foot.

The Belgian's goal certainly wasn't the last of the action, as the hosts could have snatched all three points in the dying embers of the game.

Fabinho looked certain to score from close-range after Liverpool put the ball in the box from a set-piece, but City midfielder Rodri somehow managed to thwart the Brazilian with a superhuman block.

That is beyond outrageous.

Fabinho perhaps was a bit slow to get his shot off, but take nothing away from City's silky midfield enforcer.

Rodri's intervention means that neither his team nor Liverpool sit top of the Premier League table going into the October international break.

Chelsea currently occupy that spot, with Jurgen Klopp's men in second and City third.

But after watching the latter two in action at Anfield, it's hard to see how another team in the English top-flight can finish ahead of both come the end of the season.

They're just ridiculously good and - more importantly - a joy to watch.
