Journalist Tom Barclay was surprised that Brighton decided to loan Abdallah Sima immediately after signing him.
What happened with Sima this summer?
With only three strikers in their squad, and one being Danny Welbeck, who often plays on the left, the Seagulls desperately tried to add to their frontline this summer, especially after their well-publicised number of missed chances last season.
Brighton scored just 40 times in the Premier League, with Neal Maupay their most prolific attacker with eight goals.
With that in mind, Potter added Sima to his squad on deadline day, with the Senegalese international expected to provide stiff competition for Welbeck, Maupay and Aaron Connolly after scoring an impressive 20 goals in 39 appearances in his debut season for Slavia Prague, one of which helped knock Leicester out of the Europa League.
Those 20 goals were more than Brighton's entire strike force combined. However, much to Barclay's shock, Sima was then loaned out to Stoke for the rest of the season.
What did Barclay say?
He told GIVEMESPORT: "I was surprised. They've been looking for a striker for 18 months now and still haven't got one. The only thing that I can put that down to and that's me more drawing a conclusion. I think for a lot of forwards, the wages that would be after to improve what they have already would be high.
"And whilst the fees for certain strikers that have gone this season wouldn't have been a problem, you can see that on what they spent for Abdallah Sima, but perhaps the wages were higher."

Why didn't Brighton sign another striker?
With Brighton flying high near the top of the Premier League and all three of his strikers already off the mark, it could yet prove an inspired decision from Potter.
However, the Seagulls are still in the Carabao Cup and have the FA Cup to come, which means their squad might well be pushed to the limit.
Everything looks rosy at present, but one of Potter's three strikers is Welbeck, who's already missed three games with a hamstring problem, and has a record of getting injured having missed more than 150 matches in his career with various injuries.
Sima should gain valuable experience with Stoke in the Championship and has already started a league game for the Potters, so it might just turn out to be a smart move from the Brighton boss.
