AC Milan have enjoyed a wonderful start to the 2021/22 Serie A season.

Stefano Pioli's side are second in the Italian top-flight table with six wins from their seven games played thus far.

Only Napoli, who have emerged victorious in every single league match, have a better record than Milan as we go into the October international break.

The Rossoneri's latest triumph came last Sunday night against Atalanta and it was certainly a statement performance by Pioli's men.

Milan won 3-2 in Bergamo thanks to goals from Davide Calabria, Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leao.

They actually took a 3-0 lead against Atalanta, but late strikes from Duvan Zapata and Mario Pasalic made it a slightly uncomfortable ending for the visitors.

But they managed to hold on and are being tipped by many as challengers for the Scudetto this season as a result.

Milan appear to be strong in all departments right now, with the centre-back partnership of Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer really blossoming.

The former is thriving out in Italy and against Atalanta, the former Chelsea man produced a last-ditch tackle worthy of club legend Paolo Maldini in his prime.

Fikayo, that is magnificent.

It's rare you see a tackle from a defender that is as beautiful as a well-taken goal, but that certainly is the case with regards to Tomori's moment of pragmatic genius against Atalanta.

Tomori isn't the only former Chelsea man smashing it in Italian football this season.

Tammy Abraham is also enjoying himself at AS Roma under Jose Mourinho's rule, the striker netting four goals in his 10 appearances across all competitions in 2021/22.

Unlike Tomori, Abraham wasn't included in Southgate's England squad this time around, but if he maintains his current form, the Three Lions boss will have no choice but to select him.
