They just don't make them like Wayne Rooney anymore, do they? The Manchester United legend was one of a kind, taking the Premier League, and the world, by storm as a plucky Scouse teenager. After leaving the blue half of Merseyside for the Manchester giants, Rooney would grow from strength to strength, carving his name into the history of the famous Old Trafford club.He would break record after record in a lengthy career that was absolutely littered with silverware and individual awards. His partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo is the stuff of legend while his seismic tally of 253 goals for the club is a record that will surely stand for decades to come. However, while those records speak for themselves, that whole 'they don't make them like Wayne' statement might not necessarily be true.

That is because, while the United first team were once again struggling to kill off a game in the Premier League, Wayne's son Kai was absolutely tearing it up for the under-12's.

In a clash with fierce rivals Liverpool, Kai banged no less than four goals as he tore it up against the old enemy.

As a fierce Evertonian, you can be sure that Wayne was absolutely beaming as he watched his lad perform against Liverpool.

Sadly, the United under-12's would go on to lose the game 5-4, but Kai is hardly to blame for that.

Kai signed his first contract with United in December 2020 after turning down interest from a number of clubs.

While he has a long way to go to match his dad's antics on the hallowed Old Trafford turf, the early signs are very encouraging.

Wayne, meanwhile, will have his head firmly buried in the business of righting the chaos that has descended at Derby County.

The club are almost certain to be relegated from the Championship after a 12-point penalty for going into administration saw them crash to rock bottom on the table.

While his work life might be riddled with stress, at least Wayne can take pride in the fact that his son is living his best life in the red of United.
