Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge said that he thought Crystal Palace could be relegated this season but has been proved wrong in recent weeks.

How have Palace performed this season?

Patrick Vieira has racked up just one victory from his opening seven Premier League games in charge of the Eagles.

However, their points return perhaps isn't a true deflection of their performances under the Frenchman.

Their only defeats came at Chelsea and Liverpool, whilst they've managed to pick up points against Tottenham, West Ham and Leicester, three teams pushing for European football.

Palace should be sitting on two wins, but for a last-gasp Neal Maupay equaliser against Brighton last month, although Vieira's side showed their power of recoveries from 2-0 down to claim a point in their most recent league fixture against the Foxes.

Seven points from seven matches is far from inspiring, but with players returning from injury and Palace's fixture list easing up slightly in the coming weeks after trips to Arsenal and Manchester City, the south Londoners should climb the table.

Despite their upturn in fortunes, Bridge predicted the Eagles to be at the wrong end of the table this season.

What did Bridge say?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Do you know what, it's funny? I feared for Palace in the summer. I won't lie, I actually thought they might go down. They had a slow start; they didn't score, and people were making lazy comparisons with Frank de Boer from his time at Palace."

How far can Palace go under Vieira?

Hitting the magic 40-points will be his first target, but the thought of having Conor Gallagher, Michael Olise, who scored his first Premier League goal to spark the comeback against Leicester, Wilfried Zaha, Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard all in the same team is an extremely exciting prospect for Palace.

But it's now down to Vieira to fit them into the same team. If that happens, who knows what Palace could achieve, because they're already looking tidy at the back and if they can fix up offensively, they could be a dark horse for a top-half finish.
