Journalist Paul Brown has waxed lyrical over West Ham forward Michail Antonio, hailing him as a 'complete monster'.

What's the latest news involving Michail Antonio?

It's been a superb start to the season for the Irons front-man.

With five goals and three assists, just two players have outscored him in the Premier League, Jamie Vardy and Mohamed Salah, while the latter is the only player in the division to have registered more overall goal involvements.

He's also averaged the same number of shots per match as Cristiano Ronaldo and ranks in the Premier League's top ten for key passes per game.

That lethal start has allowed West Ham to take eleven points from their first seven games, leaving them just three points away from a place in the top four.

However, the Irons have lost their last two home games - against Manchester United and Brentford.

What has Paul Brown said about Michail Antonio?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Brown was full of praise for West Ham's talismanic attacker and even claimed he's the best striker in the Premier League when it comes to occupying opposition defences.

He told GMS: "Michail Antonio has just been an absolute revelation for at least the last year or so. Is there a striker who keeps a back four more occupied? He’s just everywhere.

"He’s constantly leading the press, putting people under pressure, battling defenders. When he plays, he’s just a complete monster and dominates people."

Why has Antonio been a revelation for West Ham?

We've all become accustomed to Antonio producing imperious goalscoring performances for the Irons, but it shouldn't be forgotten that he's taken a pretty unusual journey to reach where he is now.

In fact, at various points in his Irons career he's been used as a left-back and a right-back, and until the 2019/20 campaign Antonio had never hit double figures in the scoring charts in a single Premier League season.

The real turning point came when David Moyes started utilising the former Nottingham Forest man as a lone centre-forward in early 2020. Since then, Antonio has notched up 24 goals in 47 Premier League outings.

Antonio has always been a handful for opposition defenders, combining strength and speed with the ability to join attacks late and score goals.

But the regularity of his goals has vastly improved, sealing Antonio's transformation from a difficult attacker to play against to being a truly complete centre-forward.

If he can keep it up - and stay fit - across a whole season, West Ham will have a real chance of matching last term's sixth-place finish.
