Journalist Tom Barclay has been impressed with Marc Cucurella's ability on the ball and his general composure since signing for Brighton.

How has Cucurella performed so far?

The Spaniard might be just four games into his Seagulls career, but he's already made a huge impact on the Amex faithful.

He was particularly good in the victory against Leicester last month, but the left wing-back took his level up a notch against Arsenal, claiming the man of the match award with a 7.53 WhoScored rating.

Cucurella's outstanding showing wasn't enough to help Brighton get the three points against the Gunners, although that was more down to some poor finishing from Graham Potter's side rather than anything on his own performance, with Dan Burn and Lewis Dunk missing their best chances.

Against Arsenal, Cucurella completed 82 percent of his attempted passes and managed a notable 69 touches in the 90 minutes, bettered only by Burn (75) and Dunk (78), and created four chances, which was more than anyone else on the pitch.

With that in mind, Barclay has been extremely encouraged with the 23-year-old's start to life in the Premier League since making the £18m switch from Getafe on transfer deadline day.

What did Barclay say?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Watching him against Leicester you can see why they've been watching him for a long time.

"He's got great energy, great ability on the ball, but the thing that struck me most was his composure, he seems very cool under pressure, knowing when to pass it, knowing when to hold onto the ball. Potter talked about it, saying his decision-making is one of his best attributes."

Can Cucurella keep his place in the team?

Right now, he's making himself undroppable, but the young Spaniard will have to stay on top of his game because Potter has options.

The Brighton boss has the likes of Adam Webster in reserve, with Burn able to move out to the left, whilst Tariq Lamptey is back fit, and Potter will surely be keen on getting him back in the side after his outstanding form prior to his injury last season.

But for now, with Cucurella already looking like he's played for years in the Premier League, Brighton are in good hands on the left.
