The original plans that WWE had for Big E in the draft have now been revealed, and they make for some rather interesting reading.

PWInsider is reporting that WWE originally didn't intend on drafting Big E over to Monday Night Raw as part of the first night of the WWE Draft on Friday Night SmackDown last week.

Big E ended up being WWE Raw's first draft pick of the night, but the report explains that WWE originally wanted Bobby Lashley to fill that role.

The draft that night would have seen Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston moved to SmackDown, meaning WWE fans would have to tune into Raw a few days later to see what happened with Big E.

The original plan for this past Friday's Draft was that the #1 Draft Pick for Raw was to have been Bobby Lashley with the idea that viewers would have to see where Big E, the WWE Champion, would land on Monday, especially after the remainder of New Day was drafted to SmackDown.  That cliffhanger idea was dropped over the course of the day this past Friday with Big E replacing Lashley as Raw's top draft pick. Lashley was instead drafted on Raw.

This didn't end up happening, as Big E was selected, as previously mentioned, as the first draft pick for Monday Night Raw on Friday night's episode of SmackDown.

Bobby Lashley was drafted on last night's episode of Monday Night Raw, remaining on the red brand to presumably leave the door open for a feud with Big E later down the line.

As of right now, there is no word on why WWE opted to split New Day up in the WWE Draft, but the faction will be on different brands once again, just a few weeks after reuniting.

Big E is skated to defend his WWE Championship at Crown Jewel later this month against Drew McIntyre, while Bobby Lashley faces Goldberg in a No Holds Barred match.

You can watch Big E and Bobby Lashley live every week on Monday Night Raw here in the UK on BT Sport.
